在越南发现了一种新物种,人们给这种蛇取名白唇游蛇。这种蛇类头部有白黄相间的条纹，身体上覆盖着红色的圆点。这种蛇一般栖息在小溪边，靠吃青蛙等小型动物为生。

2009年六月英国广播公司自然历史节目组和来自印度尼西亚科学院的专家学者深入到位于巴布亚东部的福贾山脉，在一个巨大的死火山坑中发现了数十种新物种，包括未知毛虫、巨大蝴蝶以及三种小袋鼠。但其中最惊人的发现是一种体型巨大的老鼠博萨维绒鼠，它们连同尾巴长达1米左右，十分吓人。幸运地是，这种老鼠是素食主义者，而且十分温顺。
慕迪琉球蟹台海网(微博)12月25日讯 据台湾《联合报》报道，台湾高雄师范大学地理系罗柳墀博士的研究团队，日前在屏东小琉球潮间带发现世界新物种：慕迪琉球蟹，属极罕见的卧蜘蛛蟹科螃蟹，目前没有它详细的生态资料，团队将着手让新物种能登录在世界海洋生物名录中。
发现者陈温柔说，日前在夜间潮间带物种调查时，发现这只漂亮的小螃蟹，当时正要开始涨潮，慕迪琉球蟹身体鲜艳的颜色，和藻类暗褐色背景成强烈对比，才能幸运地发现。
陈温柔说，慕迪琉球蟹体长仅15毫米，约为指甲大小，眼睛红色，身体为米白色相嵌着雪白斑块的突起，在背甲两侧镶有鲜红的斑块，全身布满卷毛，有助于挟带穿插枝状的海菜进行伪装。
在比对相关文献资料后，发现它的形态与卧蜘蛛蟹科的Thusaenys属螃蟹最相近，特别在头部有双叉状额棘、第二触角有棒状毛等独特特征，都是其它种类所没有的。
